How to block SBI debit card using net banking and SMS

Debit cards allow us to withdraw money from our respective bank accounts within a fraction of a second. However, there are chances of your debit card getting stolen or misplaced. At times like these, you must report the bank so that the bank can diable the card.

The State Bank of India (SBI) allows account users to deactivate their lost or stolen debit cards online using net banking or SMS service. Before proceeding with the following procedures, ensure that you have linked your bank account to your phone number. 

STEPS TO BLOCK SBI DEBIT CARDS USING NET BANKING AND SMS:

Step 1: Go to the official website of onlinesbi.sbi.

Step 2: Choose personal banking and then continue with the login to personal banking.

Step 3: To log in, enter your credentials and the captcha code on the following screen.

Step 4: Choose ATM card services from the e-services menu, and then click the block ATM card link.

Step 5: Now, select the account that you want to disable your SBI Debit card.

Step 6: Your screen will show all of the blocked and active cards.

Step 7: Select the debit card you wish to block, and then hit the submit icon.

Step 8: Once completed, read the information and click the confirm button.

Step 9: Next, opt for the preferred type of authentication, SMS OTP, or profile password to complete the request.

Step 10: Provide the OTP password or profile password and tap on the confirm button.

Step 11: After the successful block of the debit card, confirm the message and ticket number that is shown on the screen.

Step 12: Finally, note the ticket number for future reference.
