Duplicate PAN card: Here’s how you can apply for lost PAN card online

A duplicate PAN Card is issued by the Income Tax Department.

A permanent account number, or PAN Card, is an important document for the citizens of India, as it is used to open a bank account, file your income tax return, invest in financial instruments, or conduct any finance-related activity. Hence, losing or misplacing it might be stressful. However, there is a solution if an individual loses or misplaces it, as they can apply for a duplicate one.

A duplicate PAN Card is issued by the Income Tax Department. Here is how you can apply for a duplicate PAN Card online:

-Visit the website TIN-NSDL and click the option ‘Reprint of PAN Card’ under the PAN section of the ‘Services’ tab (in case you want changes in the existing PAN data, you can click the option Changes or Corrections in Existing PAN Data).

-Fill in the information that is marked as mandatory and submit the form.

-You will be directed to a page where a Token Number will be generated, and it will also be sent to the e-mail address you mentioned on the earlier page. Note the Token Number and continue with the application form.

-Fill in all the necessary details on the ‘Personal Details’ page and select one option for the submission of the PAN application form. Here are the available options: –

-If you are willing to submit the form physically, the form has to be printed along with copies of the documents required. It should be sent by registered mail to the PAN services unit of NSDL.

-You can submit the form digitally through e-KYC and e-sign. To avail of this option, an Aadhar card and the details of the Aadhar card are necessary. You will receive an OTP on the mobile number linked with your Aadhar card. You will require a digital signature to e-sign the form.

-Choose an e-PAN Card or a physical PAN card. If you opt for an e-PAN card, you will be required to mention an e-mail address where the digitally signed PAN card will be mailed to you.

-Fill in the contact details on the document details page and submit the application form.

-You will be directed to the payment page. After you make the payment, an acknowledgement receipt will be generated.

The PAN card will be issued to you within 15–20 working days.

However, a Rs 10,000 penalty will be imposed if any resident is found with more than one PAN Card.
