HDFC Bank Debit Card Users ALERT! Here Is How You Can Online Disable Card Transactions To Curb Frauds

To combat banking fraud and misuse, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has introduced guidelines and features to strengthen the security of debit and credit cards. One such measure allows users to enable or disable card transactions, both domestically and internationally. As per RBI’s directives, ATMs and point of sale (PoS) transactions will remain enabled by default, while online transactions will be disabled for debit and credit cards that have never been used for digital payments, both domestically and internationally. These guidelines, issued under Section 10(2) of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007 (Act 51 of 2007), will be effective from March 16, 2020.

Log in to HDFC Bank Netbanking.

–Go to the Cards section and select Debit Card.

–Under Request, navigate to Set Card usage/limits.

–Choose desired debit card.

–Select Daily Domestic usage/limits or Daily International usage/limits.

–Enable or disable ATM usage, POS usage, Contactless usage, or Online usage as per your requirement.

–Toggle the switch to ‘On’.

–Set transaction limits and click on Continue.

–Review the details and proceed to authenticate and confirm.

These guidelines and features, implemented by the RBI and various banks, aim to provide cardholders with greater control over their transactions, enhancing security and mitigating the risks associated with banking fraud and misuse.
