ICC ODI Rankings: Shubman Gill Achieves Career Best; Rohit, Kohli Also in Top 10

Gill reached his best ranking to date following his splendid performances with the willow at the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. Fellow opener and Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma also features in the top 10 of the list, as does Former captain Virat Kohli, with the pair coming in at positions 9 and 8 respectively.

Indian opening batsman Shubman Gill has achieved a career-best No.2 in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings, thanks to his recent exploits with the willow.

Fellow opener and Indian team skipper Rohit Sharma also features in the top 10 of the list, as does Former captain Virat Kohli, as the pair comes in at positions 9 and 8 respectively.

Gill has been in splendid form this year and has played a crucial part in India’s road to the Asia Cup 2023 final, as the men in blue sailed into the summit clash of the event in Colombo with Super 4 wins over Pakistan and hosts Sri Lanka.

Gill notched up his first fifty of the 2023 edition of the continental tournament with an unbeaten 67-run knock against Nepal in the group stage before a 58-run contribution against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super 4 of the tournament.

His opening stand, alongside Rohit, who scored 56 runs himself, proved to be the foundation rock on which India built their innings with Kohli smashing a stunning unbeaten 122 runs, which propelled him higher up in the rankings table.

Sharma followed up his knock against Pakistan with yet another half-century against Sri Lanka on Tuesday to lead the team to victory from the front.

The feat of having three India batsmen in the top 10 last came to be back in January 2019 as Rohit, Kohli and maverick batsman Shikhar Dhawan were part of the accomplishment.

Pakistani batsman Babar Azam leads the way at the No.1 position, while countrymen Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman are ranked fifth and tenth respectively.

Australian opener climbed a spot to find himself in the fourth position, while South African Rassie Van Der Dussen sits third, right above Warner.

Van Der Dussen’s international teammate Quinton de Kock is placed seventh, behind Irish batsman Harry Tector.
