WhatsApp is the most used messaging platform across the globe and it adds new features from time to time to keep millions of users hooked. Although WhatsApp doesn’t officially reveal much about its upcoming features, its beta updates often spill the beans.
One such feature that was in testing over the past few months has now been officially rolled out as WhatsApp Channels. A WhatsApp Channel is like an account on social media for which you have turned on the notification. The feature allows you to get updates from organizations, sports teams, artists, and thought leaders that you like to follow directly on WhatsApp. It is like public information that you like to get served privately.
To begin with experience, WhatsApp has got the Indian Cricket Team, Katrina Kaif, Diljit Dosanjh, Akshay Kumar, Vijay Deverakonda, Neha Kakkar and other most followed social media celebs on Channels.
Channels can be found in a new tab called Updates – where you’ll find Status and channels you choose to follow.
You will be able to find channels to follow that are automatically filtered based on your country. You can also view channels that are new, most active, and popular based on the number of followers. Just like any other social media platform, you can react using emojis to give feedback and see a count of total reactions. However, whatever you react to will not be shown to followers.
Whenever you forward a Channel Update to chats or groups it will include a link back to the channel so people can find out more. WhatsApp Channels are rolling out globally over the next few weeks so if you haven’t received the feature yet, you will get it soon.
