Gandhi Jayanti: As the Father of the Nation, he spearheaded India’s independence struggle alongside many other national leaders in opposition to British rule in India

The Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on Monday will mark the 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Several events across the nation have been planned to celebrate the day.

Every year on October 2, the nation marks the birth anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi). Gandhi, being a forerunner of non-violence and truth, founded the Satyagraha and Ahimsa movement during the Indian liberation struggle. As the Father of the Nation, he spearheaded India’s independence struggle alongside many other national leaders in opposition to British rule in India.

This day also marks the birth anniversary of former prime minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who is known for his role in leading India to victory in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 and for his slogan “Jai Jawan Jai Kisan” (Victory to the Soldier, Victory to the Farmer).

After paying tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Delhi’s Vijay Ghat to pay tribute to Lal Bahadur Shastri.

He also took to X and said, “Remembering Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji on his Jayanti. His simplicity, dedication to the nation, and iconic call for ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ resonate even today, inspiring generations. PM Modi has reached Rajghat to offer prayers and flowers for marking Mahatma Gandhi’s 154th birth anniversary.

The prime minister posted on X, “I bow to Mahatma Gandhi on the special occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. His timeless teachings continue to illuminate our path. Mahatma Gandhi’s impact is global, motivating the entire humankind to further the spirit of unity and compassion. May we always work towards fulfilling his dreams. May his thoughts enable every youngster be the agent of change he dreamt of, fostering unity and harmony all over.”

Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla paid their tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

– PM Modi to Inaugurate Multiple Development Projects in Rajasthan, MP

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several developmental projects in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, including railway and housing projects.

In Madhya Pradesh, the prime minister will launch a bunch of projects, including the Rs 11, 895 crore Delhi-Vadodara Expressway. He will also lay the foundation stone for five different road projects worth over Rs 1,880 crore, a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

He will also initiate the ‘grih pravesh‘ ceremony of over 2.2 lakh homes built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY)- Gramin as well as under the PMAY-Urban.

– Congress to Take Out ‘Bharosa Yatras’ in Poll-bound Chhattisgarh

The ruling party in Chhattisgarh, Congress, will take out day-long ‘Bharosa Yatra’ (trust march) in all 90 assembly constituencies of the poll-bound state to inform people about the welfare schemes of its government.

Sushil Anand Shukla, communication head of the state’s Congress unit, in a statement said during the march — on the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi — the party will also reach out to people and expose BJP, alleging that it “cheated” people of the state during its 15-year-rule.

– ‘Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan’ Camp in Lucknow, Varanasi Today

The Uttar Pradesh government said that it will conduct the ‘Har Ghar Solar Abhiyan’ in Lucknow and Varanasi on Monday to encourage the use of solar energy among people. ‘

The camp — organised on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti — aims to promote the use of solar energy by the residents of the state, an official statement said.

The statement noted that it is a step towards reaching the state’s target set under the Solar Energy Policy 2022 of Uttar Pradesh and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA), which aims to achieve 6,000 megawatts of solar rooftop plant installations in residential and commercial facilities.

– Punjab Govt to Revamp All Dist Hospitals; First to be Inaugurated Today

Aam Aadmi Party supremo Arvind Kejriwal said that all the district hopsitals in Punjab will be renovated.

The first such renovated hospital in Patiala will be inaugurated on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on Monday.

In a post on X, Kejriwal said, “After strengthening primary healthcare by making 664 mohalla clinics in less than 1.5 years, the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab now starts improvement of secondary and tertiary hospitals. All government hospitals at the district-level will be renovated.”
