India’s wealthiest woman Savitri Jindal crosses Top 5 threshold on Forbes India’s 100 Richest 2023 list

Savitri Jindal, India’s wealthiest woman and the matriarch of the OP Jindal Group, has crossed the threshold of Top 5 in Forbes India’s 100 Richest 2023 list.

A power and steel conglomerate, OP Jindal Group’s net worth is at  $24 billion, up by 46 per cent. Meanwhile, Savitri Jindal’s net worth stands at Rs199,656.00 crore.

Jindal, 73, saw the second-largest wealth gain this year — $7.6 billion. She is also the only woman billionaire and an active politician in the top 10.

She inherited her stake in the group after her husband, Om Prakash Jindal, died in a helicopter crash in 2005 following which the group’s companies were divided among his four sons and are now run independently.The chairwoman of the group also inherited her husband’s political constituency and is a legislator in the north Indian state of Haryana.

She is also engaged in Jindal’s social welfare agenda, promoting education, health care and the environment.

Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has once again secured the top position as the wealthiest individual in India this year.

His total net worth increased by $4 billion, reaching $92 billion, compared to the previous year.

Following closely are other prominent figures, with Adani Chairman Gautam Adani having a net worth of $68 billion, Shiv Nadar of HCL Tech with $29.3 billion, Savitri Jindal from OP Jindal Group holding $24 billion, and Radhakishan Damani of Avenue Supermarts with $23 billion.
