Google Car Crash Detection Now Available For These Android Users In India: Everything You Need To Know

Google is expanding the support for its car crash detection feature to more countries this week, which now includes India. The car crash detection works similar to Apple’s feature for iPhones but Google is bringing the support on Android for select phones as of now.

As the name suggests, car crash detection uses the sensors on your Android phone and raises an alert if you ever meet with an accident. Reports say that Google has been able to fully utilise its potential and even helped people report in real-life situations.

The details about car crash detection coming to India and a few more countries was shared by tipster Mishaal Rahman, who has a solid track record of reporting on Android updates. Coming back to the feature, Google is offering car crash detection in India, which also shows the company’s direction towards the country which also has plans to start manufacturing the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro by early 2024.

Google Car Crash Detection For Android – How It Works

Firstly, you might have to enable the feature on your Android phone as Google doesn’t turn it on by default. You can do this by following these steps:

– Head to over Setting of your Android phone

– Scroll down to Safety and Emergency and tap on it

– Look for car crash detection and enable the feature

– Your phone is now capable of giving car crash alert

Once you have the feature enabled, it will be able to detect any possible road mishap and inform the emergency services who will come to help and assist you in such situations. The phone will vibrate and sound an alarm at the highest volume and even ask the person if they need any help. It will then contact the emergency services number 112 to share your location and car crash data

Google makes it clear that car crash detection is only available for Pixel phones as of now, and even there, you would need to have Pixel 4a or later models which includes the Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 series as well. In addition to this, the feature is only available in select languages and for people in India, they don’t get Hindi option for the feature just yet.

Google makes an important note that your phone might not be able to detect all the crashes which means you might need other assistance to get out of the situation.
