Adani Group to bid for duty free shops at Macau International Airport

NEW DELHI: Indian airport major Adani Group has set up a company in Macau that will bid for operating duty-free shops at the international airport there.

In a BSE filing on Wednesday, Adani Enterprises said its subsidiary Mumbai Travel Retail Pvt Ltd (MTRPL) “has completed the incorporation process of its wholly owned subsidiary namely ‘MTRPL Macau Limited’ in Macau on November 20, 2023,” with an authorised share capital of 25,000 Macanese pataca (MOP), the official currency of Macau. The purpose of this company is to bid for “the tender of Duty-Free Liquor & Tobacco Shops at Macau International Airport.”

The Adani Group operates airports in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mangaluru and is building Navi Mumbai airport. It is increasing its presence in the aviation space. Most recently it entered the space of aircraft leasing by opening a company in Ahmedabad‘s Gift City.

Earlier Adani Airport had acquired maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) major AirWorks. It is also looking at taking over AI Engineering Services (AIESL), which is the MRO unit of Air India.
