India weather update: IMD predicts rainfall over J&K, Tamil Nadu, Nicobar Islands, Kerala and more – Check complete forecast

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the Low Pressure Area that lies over Southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea will intensify into a Depression on Thursday. It also forecasted that wet spell with thunderstorm activity over Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra during the next three days.

The Met office has also issued rainfall alerts for several parts including Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe today. In addition, light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Nicobar Islands on Thursday. 

The Fishermen out at sea have been advised to return to Andaman and Nicobar Islands and those off the east coast of India (from Tamil Nadu coast to Odisha coast) are advised to return to the coast by today itself.

A look at weather conditions across few states:- 

Delhi: The sky will remain cloudy in Delhi on Thursday. The light rain or thundershowers would take place later in the day. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the national capital would be around 24 and 13 degrees Celsius respectively. On Wednesday, the maximum and minimum temperatures settled at 26.3 and 11.7 degrees Celsius respectively.

West Bengal and Sikkim: Kolkata will experience cloudy sky today with maximum and minimum temperatures to hover around 28 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively. Meanwhile, dry weather-like conditions are likely to prevail over Sikkim and the districts of Sub Himalayan West Bengal. 

Tamil Nadu: The Met office has predicted that light to moderate rain at many places with thunderstorms and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Cuddalore, Villupuram, Mayiladuthurai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Pudukkottai and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
