WhatsApp Adding Two Shortcuts To Quickly Lock Chats On iPhones: Here’s How

WhatsApp is improving the process of locking conversations by introducing a dedicated toggle within the chat info screen.

The Meta-owned instant messaging application WhatsApp is releasing two shortcuts to quickly lock chats, allowing users to to quickly lock chats directly from the chat list.

“After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.24.10.78 update, which is available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is rolling out these shortcuts to the iOS app as well,” WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, some beta testers can now have access to a new shortcut that allows them to quickly lock chats directly from the chat list. To use these features, just open the chat options to check if this shortcut is already available to your account.

In addition, WhatsApp is improving the process of locking conversations by introducing a dedicated toggle within the chat info screen. This toggle also provides users with a more intuitive method to lock their conversations.

“In the previous updates, users had to navigate through a separate section within chat info to enable chat locks. Thanks to the latest update, the process is more efficient with the dedicated toggle,” WABetaInfo said.

The report suggested that these two shortcuts will bring a significant advantage to the process of locking a conversation. In particular, introducing a shortcut to lock chats directly from the chat options ensures that even those users who might not have previously discovered this feature are now aware of the capability to lock their conversations.

This process also reduces the steps needed to lock or unlock a chat, enhancing the user experience. “The addition of these shortcuts reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user privacy and making privacy features more intuitive,” the report said.

Two shortcuts to quickly lock chats are available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and they will be rolled out to more people over the coming days.
