Jeetendra, Sachin Pilgaonkar fulfil ailing Junior Mehmood’s wish to meet them

Veteran actor Junior Mehmood has been diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. He had earlier expressed his wish to meet Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar.

Veteran actor Junior Mehmood is suffering from Stage 4 liver and lung cancer. Jeetendra and Sachin Pilgaonkar paid a visit to him recently. With his condition deteriorating rapidly, Junior Mehmood had earlier expressed a wish to meet the veteran actors. While he has starred with Jeetendra in many projects, Sachin is his childhood friend.

JEETENDRA, SACHIN PILGAONKAR VISIT AILING MEHMOOD

Mehmood was diagnosed with the disease in November and has been undergoing treatment ever since. He had earlier expressed his wish to meet his co-star in many films, Jeetendra, as well as his childhood friend Sachin Pilgaonkar. As soon as the message reached the two actors, they rushed to meet Junior on Tuesday morning, December 5.

Sachin even asked the ailing star if he could be of any help. However, Salam Kazi said, according to TOI, “Mehmood Bhai’s children refused help and asked him to pray for their father.” Junior Mehmood and Sachin Pilgaonkar were a popular jodi as child artists. They also worked in films like ‘Bachpan’, ‘Geet Gaata Chal’ and ‘Brahmachari’.

Khalid Mahmood, former journalist and filmmaker, took to X (previously known as Twitter) to share Junior Mehmood’s wishes. He wrote, “Junior Mehmood, yesteryear’s adorable child star, is in hospital with 4th stage cancer. He has expressed his wish to meet Jeetendra whom he often co-starred with n childhood friend Sachin Pilgaonkar to visit him,please Jeetendra saab, Sachinji grant him what cld be his last wish (sic).”

Shriya Pilgaonkar, actor and daughter of Sachin Pilgaonkar, replied to Khalid’s tweet saying, “Papa is in touch and visited him today (sic).”

Meanwhile, veteran superstar Jeetendra dropped by to see him with comedian Johnny Lever yesterday. Junior Mehmood starred with Jeetendra in films like ‘Suhaag Raat’, ‘Caravan’, ‘Sadaa Suhagan’ and more.

After meeting him, Jeetendra told Hindustan Times, “I am here by his bedside, but he is unable to recognise me. He is in so much pain, he is unable to open his eyes. To see him in this state breaks my heart.”

“I have been coming to the Mount Mary Church for 25 years. When I learnt of Junior’s health condition, I planned to visit him on my way to the church next Sunday. But Johnny reached out to me on Monday night, urging a quick visit,” he added.

JUNIOR MEHMOOD SUFFERING FROM CANCER

Salam Kazi, a friend of Jr Mehmood, told ANI, “He was ill for 2 months and initially we thought that he might have some minor problem but after that suddenly his weight started decreasing. And when the medical reports came, it said there was cancer in the liver and lungs and a tumour in the intestine and he has also developed jaundice. So the treatment is going on, but the doctors said it’s a stage four cancer.”

Kazi also told The Times of India that the actor only has 40 days, as per doctors.

In his career spanning many years, Junior Mehmood featured in over 200 films, and is most known for his appearances in films such as ‘Kati Patang’, ‘Brahmachari’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’, ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, and ‘Caravan’, among others.
