Weather update: IMD predicts rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Kerala; dense fog in Madhya Pradesh and THESE states – check full forecast here

India Weather update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest forecast has predicted light to moderate rainfall along with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds in parts of Kerala and Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next 2-3 days.

“Light to moderate rainfall at some to many places accompanied with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds very likely over Kerala & Mahe during next 3 days. Isolated heavy rainfall also very likely over Kerala and south Tamil Nadu,” IMD said. 

According to IMD, there is likely going to be a gradual decrease in minimum temperatures by approximately 2-3°C in certain areas of Central India during the next three days. Similarly, Northwest India is expected to experience a drop of about 2°C in minimum temperatures during this period, with no significant changes anticipated thereafter. Over the subsequent 3-4 days, West India is expected to witness a gradual fall of about 2-3°C is forecasted in these regions.

Delhi records coldest morning of season at 8.3 deg C

The national capital on Sunday experienced the chilliest morning of the season, as reported by IMD. The minimum temperature dropped to 8.3 degrees Celsius, marking a slight decrease from Saturday’s 8.5 degrees Celsius. 

Meanwhile, the maximum temperature for the day was recorded at 23.4 degrees Celsius, slightly below the seasonal average. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in the city at 6 pm reached 312, falling within the ‘very poor’ category. This indicates a slight improvement compared to the previous day when the AQI was recorded at 322 at the same time.

IMD issues fog alert for five states

The Meteorological Office issued a fog alert for specific regions across five states on December 11. According to a statement from IMD, dense fog is expected during the morning hours in isolated areas of north Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya on December 11. 

Additionally, the IMD forecasted the impact of a fresh and weak Western disturbance in the Western Himalayan Region starting from December 11. The statement also highlighted the likelihood of hailstorms in isolated locations over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on December 12.
