Stock Market Updates: Sensex Rises 300 pts, Nifty Above 21,500; Kansai Nerolac Up 7%

Domestic benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty traded higher on Wednesday tracking upbeat global market mood

Sensex Today: An upbeat global mood lifted equity markets on Wednesday. The S&P BSE Sensex advanced 267 points, or 0.37 per cent, to quote at 71,604 levels, while the Nifty50 was at 21,529, up 88 points or 0.41 per cent.

In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap and the BSE SmallCap indices gained 0.6 per cent each.

Individually, shares of Adani Green Energy added 2.4 per cent after the company said it has completed the transfer of 1,050 MW renewable portfolio to a JV between AGEL and TotalEnergies for $300 million. Besides, it announced on Tuesday that the Adani family will invest Rs 9,350 crore in Adani Green Energy through a preferential issuance of warrants at Rs 1,480.75 per share.

Those of Zee Learn, meanwhile, too surged ovee 3 per cent even as Axis Bank filed a plea before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) seeking insolvency proceedings against the Zee group company.

Among sectors, all the key indices were trading with a positive bias led by the Nifty IT index (up 0.7 per cent), the Nifty PSU Bank index (up 0.6 per cent), and the Nifty Realty index (up 0.5 per cent).

“The resilience of the market even in the holiday season, which is normally devoid of much action, is an indication of its underlying bullishness. The global support to the market from the mother market US where the S&P 500 is close to all-time high is significant. Investors should give priority to high quality bluechips which are doing well and have good earnings visibility,” said Dr. V K Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist at Geojit Financial Services.
