Cold conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab from January 02 – January 04 and over Haryana between January 01 – January 04 including Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh over the same period.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that dense to very dense fog is likely to continue over many parts of northwest & adjoining central India. The fog conditions are forecasted to further extend to the eastern parts of India during the next 2 days before gradually decreasing after that.

The fog conditions will likely continue in the early hours/morning hours in many parts of Delhi between January 01 and January 02 including some parts of Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, north Rajasthan, and north Madhya Pradesh.
Dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail in isolated pockets for a few hours in the early morning/morning hours over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh on January 01. Further Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura will see these conditions till January 02, IMD stated.

Isolated rainfall in many parts of the country
Under the influence of a fresh easterly wave and the above low-pressure area, light to moderate rainfall at some places over some parts of south Tamil Nadu, south Kerala, and Lakshadweep is likely till January 04.
In Jammu and Kashmir, light isolated rainfall and snowfall are very likely in the regions of Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad. Light isolated rainfall is predicted over Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh between January 02 to January 04.

Change in minimum temperatures
“The Minimum temperatures are in the range of 6-9°C over most parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, north Uttar Pradesh and north Rajasthan and in range of 10-12°C over Delhi, south Rajasthan and north Madhya Pradesh,” IMD mentioned in a communique.
Further, the temperature is likely to be above normal (2-4°C) over some parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, northwest Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat
