Access the Official Website:

Visit the official income tax e-filing website at https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/.

New Registration or Login:

The report added that for first-time users, click on ‘New Registration’ and complete the registration process by providing accurate details, creating a profile, and setting up a password.

For returning users, click on ‘Registered user’ and log in using your credentials – user ID, PAN, password, date of birth, and captcha code.

Dashboard Navigation:

After logging in, you will land on your dashboard. Click on the ‘e-file’ tab and choose ‘Prepare and submit ITR online’ from the available options.

Form Selection:

Choose the most suitable form and assessment year for filing your returns.

Opt for the pick address from the PAN database, previously filed return, or input a new address. Decide whether you want to digitally sign your return, and if so, upload your signature.

Form Submission:

Click on ‘Submit’ after filling in the form. You will be redirected to the selected form to review and fill in the necessary details.

Information Tabs:

Preview and Submit:

Click on ‘Preview and Submit’ to review your ITR form before the final submission.

Final Submission:

After clicking ‘Submit,’ your ITR will be uploaded, and you will be prompted to verify your return using the available options.

Digital Signature Upload (if applicable):

If you have a registered digital signature, upload it during the submission process. Upon successful upload, the ITR filing process is completed.

Verification:

Follow the provided options to verify your return. This may include methods like Aadhar OTP, EVC (Electronic Verification Code), or sending a signed physical copy to the Centralized Processing Center (CPC).
