Do you have potassium deficiency? Know all about it’s signs and symptoms

According to doctors, mild to moderate hypokalemia is typically treated with oral potassium supplements.

Potassium is an extremely important mineral and it plays a crucial role in various bodily functions. Potassium is important for regulating muscle contractions, maintaining healthy nerve function, and regulating fluid balance.

Potassium deficiency, also known as hypokalemia, occurs when the amount of potassium is low in the blood. According to experts, the normal levels of potassium range from 3.5 to 5.2 mEq/L (3.5 to 5.2 mmol/L). Anything lower than 3 mEq/L (3 mmol/L) can be considered severe hypokalaemia. While mild cases of hypokalaemia are asymptomatic, in case of dangerously low levels of potassium, one must get medical attention.

It is noteworthy that only dietary deficiency can rarely cause potassium deficiency.
