IMD Weather Forecast: Scattered rainfall expected in Central and Eastern parts of India, New Delhi shivers as temperature dips to 5.2°C

Isolated light intensity thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are highly likely over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh till February 12.

According to the latest forecast from the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a likelihood of light rainfall in Central India till February 12, and in East India from February 12 to February 14.

Light rainfall across India

The IMD has additionally stated that due to the influence of a lower-level trough in easterlies along the west coast and its expected east-northeastward movement, isolated to scattered light rainfall is anticipated over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha till February 13, and over south Uttar Pradesh, south Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal from February 12th to February 14.

Moreover, isolated light intensity thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are highly likely over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh till February 12, and over Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal between February 13 to 14. Light isolated rainfall is expected over Telangana today.

Minimum temperature forecast and cold wave warning

A 3-5°C increase in minimum temperatures is highly probable across various regions of Northwest, Central, East, and West India over the next five days.

Additionally, a cold wave conditions warning was issued for isolated pockets across south Bihar on February 10.

New Delhi temperature

The cold chilly conditions in New Delhi continue to persist as the minimum temperature in the capital continues to be in the range of 5 degree Celsius to 7 degree Celsius. On February 10, the city witnessed its minimum temperature plunge to 5.2 degree Celsius, as per RWFC New Delhi. 

Today the people will wake up to a misty morning and the minimum temperature is expected to go to 7 degree Celsius. Over the next few days the minimum temperature will be in the range of 8-10 degree Celsius while the maximum temperature could hit 26.
