Weather Update: IMD predicts wet spells in Central India; Hailstorms in Maharashtra – Check Full Forecast

Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, & gusty winds are likely to hit parts of Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Bihar till February 14, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) stated. 

Besides, isolated hailstorms are also predicted over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining north Chhattisgarh today and tomorrow. Further, light isolated rainfall is also likely over Odisha, Telangana, and southeast Uttar Pradesh for the next few days.

Delhi’s air quality in ‘very poor’ 

IMD has predicted a mist on Monday morning in the national capital. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to hover around 8 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively on Monday, it said.

The national capital on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius, a notch above the season’s average. Delhi recorded a low of 7 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning, while the air quality index remained in the ‘very poor’ category.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the “very poor” category with a reading of 313 at 6 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

Minimum temperature forecast 

There will be a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-4°C in northwest India during the next 5 days. Temperature is also likely to rise by 2-4°C over many parts of east India during the next 3 days and no significant change thereafter. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over Central India during the next 5 days. 

Meanwhile, the minimum temperatures were recorded between 7-11°C over many parts of the northern plains on Sunday. These are below normal by 2-4°C over some parts of the region. The lowest minimum temperature of 4.6°C reported at Amritsar (Punjab). 

Further, cold wave conditions were observed in isolated pockets over Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
