Android 15 Developer Preview Is Out, These Phones Can Test The New Version

While brands continue to push the Android 14 update for their phones, Google is ready with Android 15 which is available in the form of Developer Preview for people to start testing before the actual deal comes out later this year.

Android continues to build new privacy tools and features that look to make the best of the software and boost the performance of phones and other devices. The latest Android version is available to developers which means regular users might find it hard to install the Android flavour and it is advised to avoid doing so on your primary phone.

The Android 15 Developer Preview is not available via software update so you will have to install the system images which can be a complex process for regular users, so we suggest they wait for the Android 15 Beta program to get the OTA version that allows them to try Android 15.

Android 15 Developer Preview: New Features Coming In 2024

Android 15 will see a big change in how users are targeted through ads thanks to the Privacy Sandbox which we have mentioned recently. Google assures the data will be anonymised which should be a relief to people seeing ads based on their activities.

Android 15 will see new health features via the Connect API to track workouts, sleep and heart rate among others. The new version will also let you share windows of select apps while you are screen recording, rather than showing the whole screen. Camera also gets some new built-in features and controls to improve photo brightness which is essential for Google’s Pixel devices. And finally, the Android 15 version could help manage the thermal workload of the cores and only use the performance cores when really needed.

Android 15 beta program will be rolling out in the coming months but the actual release is expected when Google launches the new Pixel 9 series somewhere around October 2024, while others get it later.
