India vs England: Jasprit Bumrah Rested for 4th Test in Ranchi, KL Rahul Ruled Out

Jasprit Bumrah will not be part of the 4th Test between India and England set to begin later this week.

India have rested star pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming 4th Test against England citing his workload. Bumrah has been part of all the three Tests, playing a prominent role in India bouncing back and taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

KL Rahul is yet to recover and has been ruled out from the 4th Test and his participation in the fifth and final Test is subject to fitness.

The fourth Test starts from February 23 in Ranchi.

Bengal pacer Mukesh Kumar, who was released from the squad for the third Test in Rajkot, has joined the squad in Ranchi.

The Indian Indian team landed in Ranchi on Tuesday afternoon for the 4th Test starting Friday. They arrived in the city around 4 pm from Rajkot with Bumrah a notable absentee.

Rohit Sharma and Co. arrived at the Birsa Munda Airport via a private charter and also had the England team for company.

India’s updated squad for the 4th Test: Rohit Sharma (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), KS Bharat (WK), Devdutt Padikkal, R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep.

India lost the first Test in Hyderabad with England debutant Tom Hartley starring with the ball.

The hosts were then dealt twin injury blows in Ravindra Jadeja and Rahul. Jadeja hurt his hamstring while Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps.

The duo missed India’s comeback win in Vizag as they drew level at one-all.

Both Jadeja and Rahul were picked in India’s squad for the remaining three Tests of the series though. Jadeja then made a sparkling return, hitting a century and taking a five-for as India stormed to their biggest Test win by run-margin in Rajkot.

Rahul missed the third Test as he wasn’t deemed fully fit.

India are already without Virat Kohli and Mohammed Shami.

Kohli is missing the entire series as he was with his wife Anushka Sharma for the birth of his second child while Shami is recovering from an ankle issue.

Shreyas Iyer played in the first two Tests before reports claimed he has complained of stiff back and groin pain. Iyer was dropped from the squad for the remainder of the series.
