The GOP members part of the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Alphabet demanding a communications exchange between Google and Government Agencies by March 17.

Through the documents obtained from Google related to its AI Chatbot, the Republican leaders want to know if the US government is involved in the tech giant’s ‘woke artificial intelligence program’, according to a report by the New York Post.

On Saturday, the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Alphabet, the parent company of Google and YouTube, insisting that all communications between the feds and Alphabet relating to Gemini be turned over to the committee by March 17.

The Committee Chair and Representative from Ohio Jim Jordan penned the letter to Alphabet on Saturday. Alarmed by internal reports from within the Gemini team that it had followed Biden White House guidance, as per the excerpts from Jordan’s letter shared by NY Post, it had been claimed that the Gemini’s model was allegedly based on advancing “equity” within the AI.

Notably, Equity is an idea that advocates inclusion and positive discrimination for black and other historically marginalized communities all around the world. This comes in the aftermath of a major embarrassment for the tech giant after its regenerative advanced AI bot refused to display pictures of ‘white people’.

“In light of new reporting regarding how Alphabet intentionally biased its AI model, Gemini, by giving it instructions that distort the results shared with Americans . . . we write to inform you that the committee views the subpoena as covering material relating to this technology,” NY Post quoted an excerpt from Rep. Jordan’s letter.

Addressing the controversy over Gemini, Pichai through a memo to Google’s team raised his concerns about the recent criticism coming the company’s way. Google had to shut down the image generator feature after it declined to produce images of the Founding Fathers, Vikings, and many others.

“Given that Alphabet has censored First Amendment-protected speech as a result of government agencies’ requests and demands in the past, the Committee is concerned about potential First Amendment violations that have occurred with respect to Alphabet’s Gemini model,” the letter read further.
