UP Govt Hikes Grant Under Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana By Rs 10,000

The Uttar Pradesh state government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has recently announced an increase in the grant amount under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana. The authorities have raised the grant amount by Rs 10,000, effective from April. Previously set at Rs 15,000, the grant amount will now be extended to Rs 25,000 for the financial year 2024-25.

The Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana provides financial assistance from the birth of daughters until their admission to undergraduate or diploma courses. With the revised grant amount, significant changes in the overall financial assistance provided at different stages of the scheme will occur. Let’s delve into the differences resulting from the extension in the grant and how to avail the benefits.

As per the order, the grant’s first instalment of Rs 2,000 which was given at the time of birth, has been increased to Rs 5,000 now. In the second phase of granting the amount, the beneficiary used to receive Rs 1,000 on completion of all the vaccines in one year, which will now be Rs 2,000.

In the third stage, a total of Rs 2,000 was offered to the beneficiary on enrolling in their first class, and will now be given Rs 3,000. Followed by financial assistance of Rs 2,000 for getting admission to class six, which will now be increased and given Rs 3,000.

In the fifth phase, the beneficiary used to receive Rs 3,000 while getting admission to Class 9, which will now be increased to Rs 5,000. Similarly, in the sixth and last phase, the beneficiary is given Rs 5,000 who gets passed out of school or has enrolled in a diploma or undergraduate programme of two or more years. Following the increase in grant amount, the beneficiary will now be getting Rs 7,000.

The Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana is a scheme launched by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government in 2019. The scheme aims to support families with girl child/ children with financial assistance. The yearly income of the applicant’s family should not be more than Rs 3 lakh.

The family of the beneficiary should have permanent residential proof of Uttar Pradesh.

The family should not have more than 2 children to benefit from the scheme.

The scheme will be available for 2 girl children in a family.

Apart from the girl child born, any adopted girl child will also be eligible to benefit under the Kanya Sumangala Yojana.

Third girl child from the second delivery in the case of twins will also be eligible to avail of the benefits of the scheme.
