Weather Update: IMD predicts rainfall in eastern and central India; Delhi’s temperature likely to rise – Check full forecast 

An anticyclonic circulation lies over west central & adjoining northwest bay of Bengal

Spells of rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & hail will prevail over east, central & adjoining peninsular India till March 20 with peak intensity likely tomorrow,  the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned in its latest weather report. 

Due to an anticyclonic circulation over west central & adjoining northwest bay of Bengal, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is predicted over Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar till March 20.

Meanwhile, parts of Vidarbha, East Madhya Pradesh Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha will receive isolated hailstorms today and tomorrow . 

In northeastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will receive light/moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms & lightning during March 18-23. 

In the southern region, rainfall is predicted over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Yanam, Marathwada and North Interior Karnataka for next few days.

Temperature rises in Delhi 

The national capital on Sunday recorded a maximum temperature of 30.8 degrees Celsius, one notch below the season’s average, as per IMD. 

Meanwhile, the humidity level was recorded at 28 percent, according to data recorded by the IMD at 5.30 pm.

For the next few days, the city’s temperature is likely to rise, touching 32-33 degrees Celsius by the weekend, according to the Regional Weather Forecasting Center (RWFC) in New Delhi.

Hilly regions to receive snowfall and rainfall 

A fresh feeble western disturbance is likely to affect the western Himalayan region from today and another from the night of March 20, 2024. Under its influence, light rainfall/snowfall is very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad today & again during March 20-23

Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will also see the similar climatic conditions till March 21, the MeT department mentioned.
