Jharkhand MLA Sita Soren Resigns From JMM, Joins BJP For Upcoming Lok Sabha Polls

Sita Soren resigned on Tuesday from all party positions. She also quit from the Jharkhand State Assembly.

MLA from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Sita Soren resigned on Tuesday from all party positions. She also quit from the Jharkhand State Assembly. Soren joined the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. She is sister-in-law of ex-Chief Minister Hemant Soren and is a three-time MLA from the party JMM.

Sita, in her resignation letter directed to the party’s leader and her father-in-law, Shibu Soren, conveyed her grievances, expressing that after her husband, Durga Soren’s passing, the party failed to extend sufficient support to her and her family. Feeling neglected, Sita reluctantly decided to step down from her position within the party.

She expressed disappointment, noting a departure from the party’s fundamental principles by accommodating individuals whose beliefs diverge from its ethos. “I’ve become aware of a conspiracy against me and my family… I have no option but to resign,” she stated.

When questioned, party spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharyya confirmed awareness of the resignation but mentioned that the formal letter had not yet been received, reported PTI.

Sita Soren’s departure from the JMM occurred amidst heightened political turmoil in Jharkhand.
