Weather Update: IMD predicts rainfall and hailstorms in THESE states; Delhi to see clear skies today – Check full forecast

The national weather forecast agency issued Agromet advisories for heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and hailstorms in various parts of the country

Various regions of the country particularly east, central & adjoining peninsular India will experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning & hail today and tomorrow, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) mentioned.

Due to a cyclonic circulation and lower tropospheric levels, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall is predicted over Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh & East Madhya Pradesh and Bihar till March 21.

Hailstorm warning

The national weather forecast agency issued Agromet advisories for heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and hailstorms in various parts of the country.

As per IMD, an isolated hailstorm is very likely over Vidarbha, east Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand today. Meanwhile, thundersquall, reaching the speed of 50-60 kmph, is likely also over east Madhya Pradesh today. 

In the northeastern region, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated thunderstorms & lightning is predicted over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till March 24. 

There is also a possibility of hailstorms in coastal regions of Andhra Pradesh, Marathwada, and Yanam till March 21.

Clear weather in Delhi 

The MeT department predicted mainly clear skies in the national capital today with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to settle at 32 degrees Celsius and 13 degrees Celsius respectively.

Delhi on Monday recorded a high of 30.6 degrees Celsius, a notch below the season’s average. The minimum temperature was recorded at 12.2 degrees Celsius, four notches below the season’s average. Delhi’s 24-hour air quality index was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category.

Snowfall and rainfall in hills 

Due to fresh western disturbance in the western Himalayan region from the night of March 20, isolated/scattered light rainfall and snowfall are likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during March 20-24.
