How To Link PAN With Aadhaar Card? Steps To Activate Inoperative Pan Card

If your PAN card is not yet linked with Aadhar Card it becomes inoperative. According to the income tax 114AAA of the Income-tax Rules states that if a person’s PAN expires or becomes invalid, one would be responsible for all Act-related penalties for failing to supply, intimate, or cite his PAN.

What Will Happen If Pan Card Becomes Inactive?

  • In case any refunds which are already pending with the IT Department, it will not be issued.
  • Pending IT returns cannot be processed.

How To Link A PAN Card With An Aadhaar Card?

Submitting Online or Offline Link Request for PAN and Aadhar

  1. By logging into your Account you can submit request to link PAN and Aadhar
  2. If you are not a registered user, first visit the e-filling portal of Income Tax and register yourself.
  3. After registration, login as per your User ID and password.
  4. Enter the password and confirm the secure access message
  5. Click on ‘Continue’
  6. Under the ‘Personal Details’ option, click on ‘Link Aadhaar’ from ‘My Profile’.
  7. Fill all the required details, like name, gender, date of birth.
  8. Verify the details on the screen and select ‘I agree to validate my Aadhaar details’ check box
  9. In case only year of birth is mentioned, check and select ‘I have only year of birth in Aadhaar card’
  10. Then Click on ‘Link Aadhar’
  11. Once this procedure is completed, the pop-up message will be displayed on the screen as the PAN and Aadhar are linked.

How to Check PAN – Aadhar Link Status?

  • The following are the steps to check the status of the PAN Aadhar link:
  • Go to the the official e-filing portal of Income Tax
  • On the homepage, you can see the option ‘Link Aadhaar Status’, click on it.
  • Enter your PAN number and Aadhar number
  • Then click on ‘View Link Aadhaar Status’
  • If PAN and Aadhar are not linked, then notification will appear about it.
