Japan Begins E-Visa Process For Indians | All You Need To Know

New Delhi/Tokyo: Japan has officially launched the e-Visa portal for Indian nationals! With this new visa system, Indians who wish to visit Japan would no longer need a physical visa sticker for entry.

The e-Visa programme was announced in August last year and was officially launched on April 1. Under this new programme, Indians can apply for electronically generated visas through the official visa application centres operated by VFS Global.

With an e-visa, Indians would be allowed a single-entry short-term Japanese visa specifically for tourism purposes. Indian nationals as well as foreigners residing in India will be eligible to apply for this eVisa.

Japan e-Visa For Indians | How to Apply

Those eligible will be required to submit their applications for the Japanese e-Visa to the official Visa Application Centres managed by VFS Global. The process for applying for an e-visa is similar to that of a Japanese visa.

However, the major difference is that instead of a visa sticker attached to the passports, successful applicants will receive an electronic visa.

Tourists will then be required to show a “visa issuance notice” on their phones while at the airport to allow entry inside. The document must be presented in its true form upon arrival at the airport. Any other form such as a PDF, photograph, screenshot or hard copy will not be accepted by authorities.

Which Countries Provide An eVisa for Indians?

Apart from Japan, Indian tourists can apply for an e-visa to visit countries such as Russia, Malaysia, South Korea, New Zealand, Kenya, Baharainm Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam and many more.
