7th Pay Commission Updates: After 4% DA Hike, Centre Revises THESE Allowances Provided To Govt Employees; Details

7th Pay Commission DA Hike Update: Big bonanza for Central government employees and pensioners as six key allowances have been revised by the Centre. Earlier, the Centre also hiked the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 4 per cent which has now reached 50 per cent for central government employees. The revised DA is effective from January 1, 2024.

According to the Office Memorandum released on April 2, the Department of Personnel and Training has released instructions on a range of allowances available to central government employees. The Central government provides various allowances to its employees including housing, transportation, education, healthcare and travel expenses.

Six Allowances Revised By The Central Government Are

– Children’s Education Allowance

– Risk Allowance

– Night Duty Allowance (NDA)

– Over Time Allowance (OTA)

– Special Allowance Payable to Parliament Assistants

– Special Allowance for Child Care for Women with Disabilities.

– Dearness Allowance

– House Rent Allowance

– Transport Allowance

– Children’s Education Allowance

– Travelling Allowance

– Fixed Medical Allowance for Pensioners

– Higher Qualification Allowance

– Leave Travel Concession

7th Pay Commission: What Is It?

The 7th Pay Commission was established in 2014 to review and recommend modifications to the salary structures of all civil and military employees of the Indian government. As per the 7th Pay Commission, the minimum pay in government is recommended to be set at Rs 18,000 per month.

The maximum monthly salary for Apex Scale employees is Rs 2,25,000, whereas, for Cabinet Secretary employees and those currently at the same pay level, it is Rs 2,50,000. Three per cent will continue to be the annual increment rate.
