Farmers in the country are already benefiting from harvest insurance; but in 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced a new harvest insurance named Kisan Fasal Bima Yojana. In it, many new regulations have been added to offer farmers all the advantages of crop insurance. For example, farmers can now even demand compensation for crop damage caused by heavy rains, heat waves and storms.

As part of the PM Fasal Bima Yojana program, farmers receive compensation if they face crop loss due to a natural disaster. This insurance also offers compensation for hail storms, waterlogging and landslides. As part of the insurance, all these types of incidents are considered local disasters and compensation is determined. If you have harvested the crops and left them to dry in the field, you will receive compensation if the harvest is damaged by rain or other disaster within 14 days of the harvest.
