Weather Update: IMD predicts rainfall in east and central India, heatwave to persist in parts of peninsular region – Check full forecast here

According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is expected over East India, extending to Central and adjoining Peninsular India till April 11.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest bulletin forecasted a series of weather phenomena across different regions of India in the coming days. According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, is expected over East India, extending to Central and adjoining Peninsular India till April 11. On the other hand, Northeast India is anticipated to experience enhanced rainfall and thunderstorm activity over the next two days, followed by a gradual decrease in intensity. 

In contrast, parts of peninsular India are likely to continue experiencing heat wave conditions for the next 24 hours before abating. The weather department has also predicted a wet spell of rainfall for parts of Northwest India from April 13-15.

Heat Wave Conditions in Southern and Central India

Heat Wave conditions will be in North Interior Karnataka and also in isolated areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Ryalaseema today. Rainfall and Thunderstorm Forecast for Northeast, Eastern and Central India.

IMD’s rainfall prediction

Scattered to widespread light/moderate rainfall/snowfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh. Scattered light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms will be there in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura. Isolated heavy rainfall expected in Arunachal Pradesh today.

Affected regions with scattered to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms will be at Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar. East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, West Madhya Pradesh, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to have scattered to widespread rainfall with thunderstorms.

Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms is anticipated in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Telangana, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.

Temperature to Watch

Gradual decrease by about 2°C in maximum temperatures over next 5 days may take place in Northwest Asia whereas no major changes in maximum temperatures over next 24 hours, followed by a gradual rise by 3-5°C. Warm night conditions expected in isolated pockets of North Interior Karnataka on April 9th.

Hot and humid weather will continue from today till April 12th in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, coastal areas of Gujarat, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema. Coastal Karnataka is expected to have hot and humid weather conditions from today and will persist till tomorrow.
