What is EPS?

The Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) is a social security initiative by the Indian government, aimed at providing pensions to employees in the organized sector. Launched in 1995, EPS is managed by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The scheme ensures financial stability for employees post-retirement by offering a monthly pension. Employees who have worked for at least 10 years in a covered establishment are eligible for this pension upon reaching the age of 58.

EPS nomination allows members to designate beneficiaries who will receive the pension benefits in case of the member’s demise. This ensures that the financial support intended for the employee continues to assist their family. Nominees can be family members such as a spouse, children, or dependent parents. How to File E-nomination for EPF/EPS Scheme: A Step-by-Step Guide

Filing an e-nomination for the EPF/EPS scheme has been streamlined through the EPFO’s online portal. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Visit the EPFO Member Portal

Go to the EPFO member portal at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.

2. Log in

Use your Universal Account Number (UAN), password, and captcha to log in.

3. Profile Update

Ensure your profile details, especially your Aadhaar number and mobile number, are updated and verified. This is crucial for the e-nomination process.

4. Access E-nomination

Navigate to the ‘Manage’ tab and select ‘E-nomination’.

5. Provide Family Details

Add the details of your family members. If you have no family, this section can be skipped.

6. Nomination Details

For each family member, provide the percentage of the pension benefits you wish to allocate. You can nominate more than one family member, distributing the benefits accordingly.

7. Save and Proceed

After entering all necessary details, save the information and proceed to the next step.

8. Digital Signature/E-sign

Authenticate the nomination using your Aadhaar-based e-signature. This step requires your Aadhaar-linked mobile number to receive an OTP.

9. Confirmation

Once the e-signature is verified, your e-nomination will be successfully registered with the EPFO.
