Uttar Pradesh: Flood alert issued in many districts

LUCKNOW: All districts affected by Rohini, Sharda, Ghagra and Rapti have been put on high alert for floods due to heavy to moderate rain in Nepal and several districts in UP. On Friday, Rohini was flowing above danger mark while Sharda, Ghagra and Rapti were close to danger mark and showing a rising trend due to rainfall.


Relief Commissioner Ranvir Prasad issued a notice to administrations of Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shrawasti, Balrampur, Maharajganj, Deoria, Basti, Kushinagar, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Gonda, Sant Kabir Nagar, Ballia, Barabanki, Sitapur and Mau, warning of the possibility of flood in the coming days.

He said as per remote sensing images from June 14, it was seen that 28,581 hectare area in Maharajganj and 2,674 hectare in Siddharthnagar are under water. “We are in touch with National Remote Sensing Centre in Hyderabad and getting daily images for flooded areas,” he said.
