Garena Free Fire India Launch 2024: We Finally Know Why The Game Was Delayed

Garena Free Fire India is the localised version for the country that has new characters, different gameplay content and comply with local rules.

Garena Free Fire India launch was first teased in September 2023, which was later delayed to refine the gameplay and fully comply with the localisation policies in the country. We’re now into April 2024 and still no sign of the popular battle royale game launching in the market.

But things could finally get a move on, as latest reports suggest Garena Free Fire India edition is close to completing its localisation procss, which means the official launch might not be too far away now. The report by ET quoting sources claims Garena has been busy setting up its game server in the country with the help of Yotta Data Services in the Navi Mumbai region.

As you might be aware, Garena has partnered with Yotta for cloud hosting in India. Yotta is a company operating under the Hiranandani Group, and this collaboration is enabling Garena to adhere to India’s regulations and subsequently relaunch the game. The game developer is testing the server at the data centre which needs high throughput to handle the game streaming for millions of users.

Garena has reworked the game to comply with the Indian authorities, and it has also worked on localising the content and characters helping the company double down on esports to reach a wider user base and strengthen its credibility.

We previously reported that Garena Free Fire India was available for pre-registration on the Google Play Store for Android users. To pre-register for the game, you can click this link to sign up on the Google Play Store. You can also turn on the “Automatic Install” switch so that the game will download automatically when it’s released.

But the movement to go public has taken a long time, which suggests Garena wants to be completely assured with its infrastructure for the game before it reaches the consumers. And that makes a lot of sense as the popular gaming entity wouldn’t want any more intervention from the government which could risk the game getting banned in the country.
