30% of Madhya Pradesh’s 5.7 crore eligible population has got at least 1 jab

BHOPAL: At least 30% of eligible population in Madhya Pradesh have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccines as the weeklong mega vaccination drive launched on June 21 comes to an end. According to health department figures 1.74 crore people have taken the jabs in the state till now.

Health department records state that there are 5.7 crore eligible beneficiaries in state.

During the mega vaccination drive MP created a record by inoculating16 lakh plus people on Day1—the highest in the country. During the week Covid vaccines were not administered on three days – Tuesday, Friday and Sunday.

During the mega vaccination drive a total of 46,32,577 people have been vaccinated in the state. And of these people, 46,33,505 are those beneficiaries who have received their first doses. This suggests that barely around 3 lakh people were the beneficiaries who had received their second dose of vaccine.

Of the 5.7 crore eligible beneficiaries for vaccination in the state around 39% of the population falls in the exclusion criteria due to several factors like aged below 18 years, pregnant women, such diseases where vaccine is not permitted, etc.

And as on June 27,1.74 crore people have been administered with at least one dose and of these 46 lakh were added during the drive, said sources. If vaccination continues at the same pace, then by the year end the entire eligible population of the state is likely to be vaccinated, provided there are adequate availability of vaccine.
