Travelling to Andamans? Check out these mandatory quarantine rules

If you are thinking of going away to the Andamans for a few days, you might want to check out the latest rules and regulations. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has tweeted new guidelines for travellers who are heading to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The tweet says that passengers will be subjected to Rapid Antigen Tests on arrival at the airport, Moreover, passengers must have an RT-PCR test report issued by a lab that is approved by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). The test should have been issued 48 hours prior to departure. Quarantine is also mandatory for passengers, with rules for both institutional and home quarantine.

If the result of the Rapid Antigen Test proves to be positive, you will have to go into institutional quarantine. You can also opt for hotel quarantine at specified hotels approved by the authorities. But, do keep in mind that while the institutional quarantine is free of cost, hotel quarantine will be on payment basis.

In addition, all passengers coming to the island from the mainland are required to home quarantine for a period of seven days. This must be done even if you have tested negative. Violations of this rule will lead to a fine of INR 5000. It has also been specified that visitors going to Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep and little Andaman, must undergo mandatory home quarantine for a period of 10 days. Violations of this will again result in a fine of INR 5000.

Passengers must also remember to download the Arogya Setu app that must show a safe status. Moreover, only asymptomatic passengers, and those wearing masks will be allowed inside the airport.
