Class X Jharkhand state board result out, 95.93% clear exam

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) on Thursday announced the results of Class X of the 2020-21 batch and said 95.93% of examinees passed. The performance shows an improvement of 20.86% over last year when the pass percentage was 75.07.

Notably, education minister Jagarnath Mahto released the results on the JAC premises. JAC chairman Arvind Kumar Singh and other officials were also present on the occasion.

The council said 3.58% translating to 15,526 students failed while results of 2,060 students were withheld due to various technical reasons, including incorrect names and faults in uploading of the results.

It further said as many as 4,33,571 students were assessed for Class X out of whom 4,15,924 passed. Among the successful students, 62% secured first division while 30% got second division.

Girls with a pass percentage of 95.96 performed slightly better than boys who registered a 95.90 pass percentage. Girls were also ahead of boys in Chhotnagpur (south), Chhotanagpur (north) and Kolhan divisions while boys outperformed girls in Palamu and Santhal Paragana divisions.

Among the districts, Giridh came up with the best result with a pass percentage of 97.82. Dumka district was the worst performer with a pass percentage of 92.83. Students hailing from the most backward castes excelled with a pass percentage of 97.01. The backward caste students achieved 96.66% results.

Speaking on the occasion, the education minister said, “I hope the performance of government schools will come on a par with the private schools soon.”

Notably, JAC had cancelled the theory examinations due to the Covid pandemic and had asked the schools to assign marks out of 80 based on the performance of the students in Class IX.

The council had assigned 20% for practical examinations, which were completed on July 26. For subjects not having practicals, the assessment for 20 marks was done based on school-level examinations, model test paper-based examinations and attendance in Class IX.
