Madhya Pradesh: Class VI student dies by suicide after losing Rs 40,000 in mobile game

BHOPAL: A 13-year-old boy died by suicide after losing Rs 40,000 in a mobile game in Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district on Friday.


The Class VI student left behind a suicide note. In the note, he sought an apology from his mother.


In the suicide note, the boy mentioned that he had withdrawn Rs 40,000 from his mother’s account and wasted the money on the Free Fire game.


Chhatarpur SP Sachin Sharma said, “Statements of parents are yet to be recorded. It is on the basis of the statement of parents that the further course of action would be taken.”


“There is a protocol if anyone is under 18 years of age, then payments should be done under the authorization of the parents, the role of the gaming app is also a part of our investigations,” Sharma added.


Sources said the cyber cell of police was examining the phone. The phone will also be examined by Bhopal-based forensic experts.


The mother of the teen works at the pathology lab of a government hospital. His father is also a pathologist.
On Friday, the mother of the boy received a message regarding a transaction of Rs 1,500 on her phone. She talked to him on the phone regarding it. Later, the boy committed suicide by hanging himself in his room.


It was the elder sister of the Class VI student who first saw him hanging, and informed parents said sources.
Parents ushed home and took the boy to a hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, added sources.
