Illegal housing project: Dy mayor’s husband booked

Gurgaon: A former BJP councillor, who is also the husband of Gurgaon’s senior deputy mayor Pramila Kablana, has been booked for developing an illegal housing society with 150 flats just next to the upscale Ansal Esencia residential project in Sector 67. Some 100 families are currently living in these illegal 2BHK and 3BHK flats, which were allegedly sold for Rs 40-80 lakh each.

The FIR was registered against Gaje Singh Kablana and 20 others under the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Area Act, 1975, at the Sector 65 police station on Friday, on a complaint filed by the department of town and country planning (DTCP). This is the third FIR registered against Kablana this year for developing an illegal colony in Gurgaon.

The illegal colony was, in fact, built over around 1.5 acres of unlicenced land adjacent to blocks D and E of Ansal Esencia. The project was named Ansal Esencia Extension to mislead the innocent homebuyers by making it look like an extension of the adjacent authorised project. Property dealers have already sold 100 of the 150 flats at prices ranging between Rs 40-Rs 70 lakh.

Moreover, the registry of these flats were done at the Badhshapur tehsil office without the mandatory NOC (no objection certificate) from the district town planner (DTP). Three financial institutions also provided loans to the buyers of these illegal flats. The role of these home finance companies are now under the scanner of the authorities, TOI has learnt.

The alleged scam came to light after the occupants of the illegal flats recently filed a complaint with the DTCP after the RWA of Ansal Esencia disconnected the power and sewerage connection to the unauthorised project a week back.
“The residents approached us with the complaint and submitted around 70 registries. They were told the project was part of Ansal Esencia at the time of purchase,” DTP (enforcement) RS Batth said. “We have sought further direction from the director of town and country planning in this case. Such illegal projects are causing huge losses to the state exchequer.”

Others booked in the case include Kablana’s partners and some property dealers — Parminder Singh, Krishan Sangwan, Sandeep Dahiya, Ajay Kataria, Ashok Kumar, Chirag Sindhu, Mahinder Singh Yadav, Savitri Devi, Anil Yadav, Sunil, Ramarti Yadav, Sunita Yadav, Ramavtar Yadav, Satbir Singh, Vinod Kumar, Dharambir Singh, Mangesh Vikram Singh, Ishwar Singh, Pankaj Rathod and Akash Rodhe.

Despite repeated attempts, Gaje Singh Kablana could not be contacted.
