New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday issued important directions to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the death of Dhanbad Judge Uttam Anand. The apex court has said that in view of the seriousness of the case, we direct the investigating agency CBI to file a status report in the Jharkhand High Court every week and the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court will monitor the matter in the matter.

A bench of Chief Justice (CJI) N V Ramana and Justices Vineet Saran and Suryakant asked the CBI to file its weekly report with the High Court where a bench headed by the Chief Justice will monitor it. The Supreme Court had taken cognizance of the tragic demise of the judge in the horrific incident on July 30 and sought a status report within a week from the Chief Secretary and DGP of Jharkhand.

CCTV footage showed that Dhanbad Court District and Sessions Judge-8 Uttam Anand was jogging on one side of a very wide road at Randhir Verma Chowk on the morning of July 28 when an auto-rickshaw hit him from behind and fled the spot.
