Telecom companies have started the process of tariff hikes by scrapping some entry-level plans. However, the telcos are still offering some plans priced under Rs 500 that give access to streaming benefits. Earlier this year, Airtel partnered with Amazon to offer Prime Video Mobile Edition to Airtel subscribers that give streaming benefits to prepaid users on their phones. Airtel XStream has also added OTT content from Mubi for users. Vodafone Idea or Vi has partnered with Viacom 18 to give content from Voot to its users through Vi movies and TV.
Airtel, Jio and Vi also give OTT benefits through their dedicated apps — Airtel XStream, Jio apps and Vi Movies and TV respectively. Government telco BSNL also gives some streaming benefits like Eros Now with some of its plans.
Airtel, in June, added some benefits to its regular prepaid plans priced at Rs 349. Airtel Rs 349 prepaid plan previously gave 2GB high-speed data per day with 28 days validity. The plan has now been revised to offer 2.5GB of daily data. This plan also gives unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. This prepaid plan comes with a free subscription to Amazon Prime, users must note that the validity of Amazon Prime will last till the validity of the plan, which is 28 days. Additional benefits of this plan include Airtel XStream premium, free hello tunes, Wynk Music, free online courses, and Rs 100 cashback on FasTag.
Airtel Rs 289 prepaid plan gives 1.5GB data per day with 28-days validity. This plan also gives unlimited calling and 100 SMS per day. This plan comes with a free subscription to Zee5 premium valid for 28 days. The additional benefits include a subscription to Airtel Xstream Premium included in addition to subscriptions to Wynk Music and Shaw Academy. Customers will also get Free Hello Tunes and Rs 150 cashback on FASTag transactions.
Airtel also introduced a Rs 499 prepaid plan which gives Disney+ Hotstar Mobile benefit. This plan is again very cost-effective as Disney+ Hotstar Mobiel separately costs Rs 499. Along with getting access to all content on Disney+ Hotstar, users will get 3GB daily data for 28 days, along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day.
Jio has now updated its website and will offer Disney+ Hotstar Mobile plans with its upgraded mobile plans. The plans now begin from Rs 499 and come with 3GB daily data and a validity of 28 days. Vi is giving its plan at Rs 501 with 100GB of data and calling benefits. This plan gives access to Disney+ Hotstar benefits with 100 SMS and unlimited calling. Vi is also giving double data benefits along with its Rs 299 and Rs 449 prepaid plans along with access to Zee5 Premium. These plans, thus, give 4GB daily data with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day and access to streaming benefits.
