As PM’s security breach sparks row, old animated videos of farmers chasing Modi go viral

The controversy around the security breach of PM Narendra Modi’s cavalcade has taken a new turn now with old animated videos of PM Modi being chased by farmers flooding the social media.

The security breach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cavalcade in Punjab on Wednesday has sparked a furious debate and a Centre vs state battle that’s now in the top court. The BJP has accused the Congress-led Punjab government of leaking information about the PM’s route to protesting farmers who ended up blocking the Prime Minister’s cavalcade. The blockade resulted in PM Modi being stranded on a flyover for around 20 minutes. The cavalcade then took a U-turn.

Now, the controversy has taken a new turn now with old animated videos of PM Modi being chased by farmers flooding the social media.

In one such music video titled ‘Fer Dekhange’ on YouTube, Prime Minister Modi’s cavalcade can be seen blocked by a mob on a bridge. The mob is seen to have arrived at the location on tractors, indicating that they were farmers.

As the cavalcade stops, the animated version of PM Modi is seen getting out of his car. A few people from the mob immediately start running towards the PM’s car, prompting his security detail to flee.

The next frame shows PM Modi trying to escape the mob but he is unsuccessful and is soon surrounded by the people, some of them armed with sticks. Before the video ends, the PM is shown cowering on the ground.

In another graphic animated clip, uploaded on short-form video app TikTok, PM Modi is seen lying on the ground behind a tractor.

PM MODI SECURITY BREACH

The security breach on Wednesday has raised several questions and has resulted in a political slugfest. While the BJP has claimed that the incident reflected the ‘murderous intent’ of the Congress, the Punjab government — which is ruled by the Congress — claimed that there was no threat to the PM’s life.

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi even cited a ‘live example’ on India Today TV by walking up to a group of protesters who accosted his convoy on Thursday.

Former Home Secretary of India Gopal Krishna Pillai said that not only the Punjab Police but the Special Protection Group (SPG), which is responsible for the prime minister’s security, and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) should also be held responsible for the security breach during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Punjab.
