Mumbai: Smartcards with concessions to students, senior citizens and physically challenged to be distributed today

Making the travelling experience smoother and affordable amid the hard times, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) is all set to distribute smartcards with concessions to students, senior citizens and physically challenged from today.

The passes will be distributed to BMC and private school students and also those from junior colleges.

The senior citizens and other eligible members will get a concession on the online bus pass through the mobile app named ‘Chalo App’.

BEST has been aggressively working to make the travelling experience smooth for the Mumbaikars. In other news, the transportation authority of the state is planning to 2,100 electric buses by 2023. The BEST is in the process of acquiring 900 double-decker air-conditioned electric buses.

The aim is to make the full fleet electric by 2027.

In the recent budget, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which funds BEST, kept aside Rs 800 crore for it.
