‘As Desired By The Congress President…’: Navjot Singh Sidhu Sends One-Line Resignation Letter To Sonia Gandhi

Navjot Singh Sidhu, PCC Chief Of Punjab, has resigned from his position after the Congress debacle in Punjab.

New Delhi: After Congress President Sonia Gandhi asked the PCC chief of all five states to quit from their posts after the party’s humiliating defeat in the election, Navjot Singh Sidhu, the state in-charge of Punjab for the party has tendered his resignation.

The Congress leader took to his Twitter handle and shared his resignation letter. He said, ” As desired by the Congress President I have sent my resignation …”

This comes after the Congress debacle in all five states where assembly elections were held.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi Tuesday asked chiefs of its Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa, and Manipur units to resign amid continued rumblings in the party following its abject loss in the assembly elections in these states.

“Congress President, Smt. Sonia Gandhi has asked the PCC Presidents of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur to put in their resignations in order to facilitate reorganisation of PCCs,” chief spokesperson for the party Randeep Surjewala said on Twitter.

Sidhu, Uttarakhand state unit chief Ganesh Godiyal, and his Manipur counterpart N Loken Singh were all appointed PCC presidents in the run up to the assembly elections.

On Tuesday, Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Kumar Lallu also quit from his post after taking moral responsibility for the party’s humiliating defeat in the state assembly polls.

Sonia Gandhi’s axed the five Congress PCC chiefs after holding a meeting on Sunday where the CWC brainstormed about the reasons for the party’s debacle in the latest round of state assembly polls. The Congress failed to wrest the four BJP-ruled states and lost Punjab to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
