The Chandra Grahan sutak will start at 09:21 AM in the morning and the sutak period will end at 06.18 PM in the evening. According to Drik Panchang, during Solar Eclipse Sutak is observed for 4 Prahars and during Lunar Eclipse Sutak is observed for 3 Prahars before Eclipse. There are total 8 Prahars from Sunrise to Sunrise. Hence Sutak is observed for 12 hours before Solar Eclipse and for 9 hours before Lunar Eclipse.
– All type of food items either solid or liquid are prohibited during Sutak and Eclipse.
– It is said that Pregnant women are strictly advised not to venture out during Eclipse.
– Pregnant women are also advised not to cut or stitch any cloth or to do any other similar activities as these activities have similar effects on the baby.
– Oil massage, drinking water, Mal-Mutra Visarjan, combing hair, brushing teeth and involving in sexual activities are prohibited during Eclipse.
Chandra Grahan 2022 Sutak Time Kaal
Whether a solar eclipse or a lunar eclipse, the period preceding the eclipse is known as Sutak. In the case of Chandra Grahan or Lunar Elipse, the Sutak Kaal typically begins 9 hours before the actual start of the Chandra Grahan.
Sutak is regarded as an inauspicious period by Hindus. During the eclipse, it is generally suggested to stay indoors and avoid doing new things or starting any new work. This is because Hindus consider Sutak as inauspicious.

According to drikpanchang, Chandra Grahan Sutak will begin at 9:21 AM. The Sutak will end at 6:18 PM. Sutak time for kids, old and sick people will begin at 2:48 PM. Sutak for kids, old and sick people will end at 6:18 PM.
Chandra Grahan 2022: Kolkata, Kohima
In Kolkata, the moon will start rising from the eastern horizon at around 4:52 pm and will be completely visible by 4:54 pm. So, till 5:11 pm it will be total lunar eclipse after which the moon will enter the partial eclipse phase and will become more illuminated as time progresses. In Kohima, the eclipse at its maximum phase can be observed at around 4:29 pm, when the moon will cross the darkest part of the earth’s shadow.

New Delhi will experience a partial eclipse from moonrise at around 5:31 pm with 66 per cent obscuration of the moon since the total phase of the eclipse has already ended by then at 5:11 pm.

In Bengaluru, the moon will completely rise at 5:57 pm with 23 per cent of its disc obscured by the earth’ shadow.

Mumbai will see it at around 6:03 pm with only 14 per cent obscuration.

In Nagpur, the moon will rise around 5:32 pm with 60 per cent of the disc obscured at around 5:34 pm, when the complete moon will be above the horizon for the eclipse to be effectively seen.
