Mohammed Shami breaks silence after being ruled out of Bangladesh ODI series: It is humbling

India pacer Mohammed Shami has commented on Twitter after being ruled out of the ODI series against Bangladesh on Saturday.

Shami had to pull out of the squad on the eve of the first ODI between the Asian giants which was a big blow to India. A BCCI source also suggested to PTI that the pacer could be unavailable for the Test series against Bangladesh as well.

The BCCI released a statement on the matter and said that Shami had sustained a shoulder injury during the build-up to the three-match series and was sent to the National Cricket Academy to be under the supervision of the BCCI Medical team.

They also named Umran Malik as his replacement in the ODI squad.

“Fast bowler Mohd. Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead up to the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to take part in the three-match series.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement.”

India’s squad for Bangladesh ODIs: Rohit Sharma (C), KL Rahul (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Shreyas Iyer, Rahul Tripathi, Rishabh Pant (WK), Ishan Kishan (WK), Shahbaz Ahmed, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Siraj, Deepak Chahar, Kuldeep Sen, Umran Malik,” read the statement on BCCI’s website.

Shami has now taken to Twitter for the first time after the news and said injuries teaches a player to appreciate every moment and it’s a humbling experience for him. The India pacer went on to say that he would come back stronger from this latest blow as he has always done.

“Injury, in general, teaches you to appreciate every moment. I’ve had my share of injuries throughout my career. It’s humbling. It gives you perspective. No matter how many times I’ve been hurt, I’ve learned from that injury and come back even more stronger,” said Shami.

India will play three ODIs and Two Tests against Bangladesh.
