Chat Transfer: WhatsApp to let users transfer data using QR code

Chat Transfer: The company will bring the new feature via a future update of the app. The feature is in the developing stage.

Chat Transfer: WhatsApp, owned by Meta, will soon allow users to transfer data by simply scanning the QR code. According to reports, WhatsApp is working on a new feature – named ‘Chat Transfer’. The feature will allow users to transfer their data from one Android device to another by simply using a local network.

According to a report, the company will bring the new feature via a future update of the app. The feature is in the developing stage.

Once launched, the ‘Chat Transfer’ will eliminate the need for Google Drive. In order words, users will no longer have to back up their chat data to the cloud service if they want to transfer the chats from one device to another.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has launched a ‘proxy server’ that will let users connect freely in all circumstances.

WhatsApp proxy servers can be set up by volunteers or organisations in case of no internet connectivity. 

WhatsApp users can connect to these servers and use them to communicate freely. The announcement was made by WhatsApp CEO Will Cathcart on Twitter.

“We are making it easier for anyone to connect to WhatsApp using a proxy. So when a connection to WhatsApp is blocked, people have the power to restore access,” said Will Cathcart, Head of WhatsApp.
