Banknifty F&O expiry day changed: In a notable change, the National Stock Exchange (NSE), on Tuesday, revised the expiry of Banknifty Futures and Options (F&O) contracts to Friday from the existing weekly expiry of Thursday. In a circular, NSE said that the action to revise the Banknifty expiry date (Banknifty expiry revision) was taken based on market feedback.

Banknifty F&O weekly expiry changed to Friday (What NSE said) –
1. Change of BANKNIFTY Futures and Options expiry day from the existing THURSDAY to FRIDAY.
2. The above shall be effective from the trade date of July 7, 2023, Friday and accordingly, all existing
contracts with Thursday expiry will be revised to Friday, July 6, 2023, EOD.
3. The first FRIDAY expiry will be on July 14, 2023.

A big change in Banknifty F&O contracts
According to the NSE, all the existing weekly contracts shall expire on the Friday of every week. In case Friday happens to be a trading holiday, the weekly expiry of Banknifty F&O contracts will take place on the previous trading day.

Change in Banknifty F&O monthly expiry
According to the NSE website, all the monthly contracts of Banknifty will now expire on the last Friday of every month, If Friday is a trading holiday, the Banknifty monthly F&O contracts will expire on the previous trading day.
