The hike which was announced earlier and was to come into effect from April 1 – as part of an annual revision of toll prices across the country – was deferred by the NHAI following public outrage. It also did not help that the revision came just 19 days after the inauguration of the expressway. The Karnataka Assembly elections were also fast approaching. However, in a public notice issued on March 27 this year, it was announced that the revision would come into effect from June 1.

When indianexpress.com tried to contact NHAI officials, they were unavailable to comment on the latest hike in toll rates. A source said the toll charges for the Nidaghatta-Mysuru section is likely to be announced in the next few days and toll collection may start from July 1.
