Infosys makes work from office mandatory in THESE regions, disciplinary action for not following the rule | Details

Infosys work from home news: Homegrown information technology giant Infosys has told employees in US and Canada that it will not allow them to work from home anymore. According to an internal communication of the Bengaluru-based company, employees will need to seek special permission to take the work-from-home (WFH) route. Infosys has around 30,000 employees in US and Canada put together.

They are all likely to be impacted by the new rule, which states that there shall be disciplinary action for those who do not follow the new work-from-office mandate.

Work From Office in India

Unlike in the US and Canada, Infosys has not yet made work from the office mandatory for its Indian employees. However, the company did announce a phased return to office plan in November last year. That announcement came a month after the company’s CEO, Salil Parekh, said that the firm would continue with its flexible approach regarding employees working from home.

Phased return to office

According to the three-stage plan, in the first phase, employees were allowed to come to the office twice a week at their convenience. Following this, in the second phase, employees would have the freedom to either relocate to a branch office of their choice or take a transfer. In the final stage, Infosys would use the feedback from both phases to determine its hybrid-work policy.

“It will be exciting to see how our teams will explore their own return to office plans by creatively and pragmatically blending project and business imperatives along with collective working convenience,” Krishnamurthy Shankar, Executive Vice President and Group Head of HR Development, had said about the potential return of employees to the office.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) remains the only IT sector giant in India that has mandated a return to work from office for its employees.
